The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization strengthens research, connects academia with society, and transforms knowledge into sustainable solutions for the Thal region and beyond.

To establish Thal University as a leading regional hub of research, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

Core Responsibilities & Services
Responsibilities
- Forming multidisciplinary research groups and connecting faculty with national and international funding opportunities
- Providing grant support from proposal development through implementation, monitoring, and reporting
- Promoting research policy, ethical review, and intellectual property protection
- Building industry linkages and MoUs for applied research and consultancy
- Supporting commercialization, licensing, and technology transfer of university innovations
- Delivering research clinics, workshops, conferences, and mentoring in innovation and entrepreneurship
- Coordinating the ORIC Steering Committee and Ethical Institutional Review Board for research governance and oversight
- Advancing priority research in water management, agriculture, environmental sustainability, socio-economic and human development, digital technologies, and community development

Research Development
Form multidisciplinary research groups, identify priority areas, and connect faculty with national and international funding opportunities.
Grant Support
Administrative, legal, financial, and technical guidance from proposal development through implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
Policy, Ethics & IP
Promote responsible research, facilitate ethical review, and protect intellectual property through strong institutional policies.
Industry Linkages
Build strategic partnerships and MoUs for applied research, consultancy, and practical solutions to real-world challenges.
Commercialization
Support protection, licensing, branding, marketing, and commercialization of university technologies, products, and services.
Capacity Building
Deliver research clinics, workshops, conferences, and mentoring in research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer.

Short term · Years 1–2
Build the foundation
Establish effective systems, research groups and faculty capacity; deliver grant-writing training; identify funding; and build partnerships with industry, government and communities.
Medium term · Years 3–5
Accelerate innovation
Increase externally funded and interdisciplinary research, develop intellectual property, support entrepreneurship and incubation, and expand national and international collaboration.
Long term · Year 5+
